What is SB 437?
I’m Oklahoma medical marijuana business lawyer Ope Adegbuyi. SB 437 is a bill that was passed by the Senate on March 23rd, 2023. It directs the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, also known as OHCA, to create a registry of recommending physicians. This registry will be published beginning January 1st, 2025.
The purpose of this registry is to ensure that recommending physicians are in compliance with the agency’s initial and continuing medical education requirements. It is important for medical marijuana business employees to complete these education requirements as well.
What does this mean for physicians and medical marijuana businesses?
Starting from January 1st, 2024, all physicians and medical marijuana businesses will be required to complete this continuing education to be in compliance with SB 437. It is similar to a continuing education program specifically tailored for medical marijuana professionals.
By completing these education requirements, physicians and medical marijuana businesses can ensure that they are up to date with the latest medical practices and regulations related to medical marijuana. This will help maintain the integrity and quality of the medical marijuana industry in Oklahoma.
