The Effects of OK HB 3208
What is the effect of HB 3208? I’m Ope Adegbuyi, a medical marijuana business attorney in Oklahoma. HB 3208 expands the state’s ban on the establishment of any new medical marijuana cannabis business.
Lawmakers last year enacted a moratorium prohibiting regulators from issuing licenses for any new medical marijuana business like dispensaries, processors, or commercial growers. The moratorium was set to expire on August 1st, 2024.
However, the new law extends that ban to August 1st, 2026. This means that the moratorium will last up to four years.
Current licensees, on the other hand, will still be able to renew their license or sell it to someone else during renewal or change of ownership.
