Understanding Senate Bill 1635
Hello, this is Oklahoma cannabis business attorney Jesse Kovach with the OK Cannabis Law Office. Today, we’re going to be talking about the effect of Senate Bill 1635 on your OMMA applications and your Certificate of Occupancy applications. Now essentially, what this bill does is say that any applicant, whether you’re a new applicant, new applicant, whatever, to OMMA that has not obtained a Certificate of Occupancy will be subject to revocation until such time that you do.
The important part of this bill is that this does not apply to any licensee who has applied for a Certificate of Occupancy to the State Fire Marshal or your local authority having jurisdiction before February 1st, 2024. So if you’ve applied before February 1st of this year to the State Fire Marshal or your local authority and you’re just waiting in line for your Certificate of Occupancy, you will not be revoked by OMMA for not having your Certificate of Occupancy.
What Does This Mean for Your Business?
This means that if you are planning to apply for an OMMA license or if you are currently in the process of applying, it is crucial that you also apply for your Certificate of Occupancy as soon as possible. Failure to do so could result in your OMMA license being revoked until you obtain the necessary Certificate of Occupancy.
It’s important to stay informed about changes in legislation that could affect your cannabis business. If you have any questions or need assistance navigating the application process, feel free to reach out to an OKC OMMA compliance lawyer at the OK Cannabis Law Office.
