Controlled Substances, Controlled Access
Video Transcribed: What security measures should medical marijuana businesses take with regard to employees? I am Ope Adegbuyi, a medical marijuana business lawyer in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
According to the OBN, the medical marijuana commercial growing, processing, packaging, and manufacturing areas shall be accessible only to an absolute minimum number of authorized employees. When it is necessary for employee maintenance personnel, non-employee maintenance personnel, business guests, or visitors to be present in or pass through the areas where controlled substances are present, the registrant shall provide adequate observation of the area by an employee specifically authorized in writing.
So basically what this means is every area of processing, growing, and manufacturing must be secured and be limited to only a few employees. If you know a business guest, someone, a visitor, or someone in the maintenance team comes in and they have to go into that area or pass through it, there has to be an employee standing out there to watch them and that employee must have been authorized in writing, so with like a contract or whatever by the employer.
