Senate Bill 697: Oklahoma’s New Distribution Hub
Hey, Oklahoma medical marijuana licensed businesses. I’m Katrina Lucas, and I’m a Tulsa medical marijuana attorney with Wirth Law Office.
I’m interested in Senate Bill 697. There was also a House bill pending about the same topic. This bill allows warehouse locations for commercial transporters to run and operate. It dovetails really well with the trafficking rules that are coming in and would create a distributor hub—a spoke-and-hub model that’s normal for most businesses that distribute across a wide range of areas.
Potential Impact of the Bill
It involves temporary storage and requires documentation and all the related compliance measures. It has passed and is now on the opposite floor. It has not gone dormant. I’m excited to see this option.
I’m not yet aware of what fees or costs will apply to warehouse locations, or what certificates of occupancy or other rules are going to apply to those sites. I would love to see them create an exemption for trafficking if transport is done out of these locations, so that it makes more sense for businesses.
Future of the Legislative Changes
Beyond that, we’ll see what other rules come up and what modifications happen on any of these bills.
