Renewals Should Be Done Early to Avoid Late Fees
Video Transcribed: When should medical marijuana businesses submit renewal applications? I am Oklahoma medical marijuana business attorney Ope Adegbuyi.
According to the OMMA, businesses should submit their renewal applications between one and 60 days before the license expires. As long as the renewal application is submitted on time, the existing license will remain valid while the renewal application is being processed. If a business submits a renewal application on or after the date of expiration, it’ll be assessed a $500 fee.
Licenses are permanently expired if the licensee doesn’t submit a renewal application within 90 days of the license expiration date. So that means if your license expires today and you do not renew it, 90 days from today, then your license will be permanently expired. Now if you do renew your license after it’s expired, you’re going to be assessed a $500 fee, and also you would have to stop all business operations because your license would be reading or your status would be expired, and so you can’t actually legally possess, or process, or dispense grow any medical marijuana.
