Oklahoma Residency Requirement for Licenses
Hello, this is Oklahoma Cannabis Business Attorney Jesse Kovacs with the OK Cannabis Law Office. Today we’re going to ask, what is the residency requirement for a commercial license in Oklahoma? As you may know, you need to be an Oklahoma resident or at least 75% of your ownership needs to be an Oklahoma resident in order to obtain an OMA license.
Now, this Oklahoma residency can be established in two ways. Either you have been a resident for the two years immediately preceding your application date, so you moved here two years ago, two years hits, now you can go get a license. The other alternative is if you have lived for five continuous years in Oklahoma at some point during the last 25 years. So this is going to be super relevant for perhaps people, younger people who have just gone off to college and haven’t lived in Oklahoma the last two years, but before that, certainly in the last 25 years, they have lived here for five years straight. So just know that if you haven’t lived here in the last two years, there is that other option if you have lived here in the past.
