Oklahoma SB 264: Exploring Medical Marijuana Regulations
Exploring Medical Marijuana Regulations
I’m Ope Adegbuyi, a medical marijuana business attorney in Oklahoma. SB 264 is an act that authorizes the OMMA to create a petty cash fund. The measure establishes the application fee for medical marijuana processors at $2,500 and establishes a remittance fee of the same amount.
The measure allows the OMMA to send shoppers who may purchase medical marijuana products to prove compliance with the law. So that means they’ll be going into dispensaries acting like patients and to see if the dispensaries are being compliant. This secret shopper program would be beneficial to the cardholders’ safety because this ensures that the businesses are running according to the laws and compliance of the OMMA.
This bill also requires that every existing medical marijuana commercial grower must inform their suppliers or their retail suppliers or electric companies of its status as licensed medical marijuana growers within 30 days of the effective date of the bill. So that means that growers are going to have to contact their electric cooperatives or retail suppliers and let them know that they are growers.
