Make Sure to Keep Your OMMA Application Updated
Video Transcribed: Can a medical marijuana business’ entity’s name differ from its trade name? I’m Ope Adegbuyi and I’m an Oklahoma medical marijuana business attorney.
The answer to that question is yes. A medical marijuana business name can differ from its trade name. And a trade name is the name the business uses when it’s doing business. So if you’re doing business with a different name, then it must be listed on your OMMA application.
Also, before you can do that, you must file a trade report, trade name report, on the Secretary of State’s website. Once you file that report, you get a letter basically stating your trade name, your location, and everything about your business, and then you upload that letter on your OMMA application.
If you’re not in the application process… So for example, if you’ve already renewed your application, but you changed your name and you wanted to have a trade name, then you can also do that trade name report and then update your trade name through your business licensing portal.
